Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has admitted his side “got smashed” in the North London Derby defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. The 34-year-old goalkeeper had a very busy 90 minutes as Spurs slumped to their third successive defeat in the Premier League which has now seen them be leapfrogged in the league table by the Gunners.
Hugo Lloris said: “We lost complete control in the first half. We got smashed and then had a good reaction,” Lloris said to the press after the defeat at the Emirates Stadium. It is frustrating and very disappointing. It is the moment to stick together and carry on. The players were ready, but we lost a bit of control. We lost our balance in the middle of the pitch. When you concede three goals in each of the last three league games you cannot hide the problems. But we are professional. There is a long way to go. We need to stay calm.”
Nuno Espirito Santo has endured a difficult start to life as Tottenham manager, despite winning his opening three matches in the job.
