Bruno Lage has criticised Manchester United for failing to put the ball out in the build-up to Mason Greenwood’s winner against his Wolverhampton Wanderers side. Greenwood netted 10 minutes from time at Molineux to inflict a third successive 1-0 defeat on Lage’s Wolves in the Premier League. Asked about the controversial incident,
Bruno Lage said: “I have seen his leg, for me it’s clear. It’s important to think about what happened to us in the first half. Bruno (Fernandes) was down and Pogba asked Nelson Semedo to put the ball out and Nelson did. Ruben was down and they shoot on goal. In the same situation we had a different way to see things.”
Wolves head into the international break without a point or goal from their first three Premier League matches, despite having 57 shots on goal to date. However, Lage is certain Wolves will succeed if they keep creating such a high volume of chances.
Bruno Lage said: “If someone told me the best way is to defend and put 10 men behind the ball every time, and we win games, everyone would do that. This idea is better. The way we play, the way we create chances, for sure the goals will come. We will have more chances to win points. This is the way I believe football must be played. I am confident with the process because the first 45 minutes were very good. The chances we have, a lot of play in front of their goalkeeper, we deserved more.”
