Monchi and Luis Enrique have both previously hailed the talents of Bryan Gil after the Spaniard became Tottenham’s second signing of the summer. The 20-year-old was finally confirmed as a Spurs player earlier this week in a deal that also sees Erik Lamela complete a move to Spain after eight years in north London. Gil arrives at the club with a lofty reputation developed in La Liga. He had become one of the most highly-regarded young talents within the Spanish top flight having broken onto the scene in Andalucía before a loan switch to Eibar. In that time, the youngster had picked up many admirers including former Barcelona man and current Spanish national team head coach Luis Enrique.
Luis Enrique said: “I like him a lot. From the first talk I have had with him, I see him as very mature and very calm. I am now going to discover him in terms of football.”
Sevilla director of football Monchi was also left praising the talents of the youngster having seen him at close quarters at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. Before his move to Spurs, he had previously insisted that he envisaged Gil becoming a pivotal player for the Spanish giants.
Sevilla director of Football Monchi said: “As the coach said the other day, Bryan will obviously be an important player in the future of Sevilla. I’m not surprised by what he’s doing. Bryan has a lot of quality and I think he’s still growing.”
Considering those references then, Spurs will certainly be delighted that they have managed to secure a player of such quality. The winger has penned a long-term, five-year deal with Spurs having followed Pierluigi Gollini through the door.
