AC Milan have emerged as a potential suitor for Jesse Lingard after placing him on their transfer shortlist. That’s according to renowned Italian-based football journalist Ekrem Konur, who expects the rejuvenated Serie A giants to make official contact with Manchester United at some stage. England forward Lingard was cast aside by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the start of last season, making just three appearances for the Red Devils in cup competitions. However, after pursuing a loan move to Premier League rivals West Ham, the 28-year-old recaptured his top form and subsequently earned an international recall.
“AC Milan put Jesse Lingard on their transfer list. Official contacts with Manchester United may be established in the near future,” Konur tweeted to his 124,500 followers.
Jesse Lingard said: “Regular football is the most important thing for me. After going on loan and getting a run in the team, you started to see the real me with the goals and the assists. I’ve never doubted my ability, I’ve always believed in myself. I spoke to the manager [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer] in pre-season and said; ‘I need game time’. He said; ‘We can discuss it December time’ and we spoke again and he agreed to let me go out on loan. I had various conversations with him during my time at West Ham. He was very supportive and it was a great loan for me.”
