Newcastle United youngster Lewis Cass has joined Port Vale on a loan deal. The 21-year-old is heading into the last year of his current deal but hopes to extend his stay at Newcastle.
Lewis Cass said: “I’m delighted to sign on a season-long loan to a club with a massive ambition to get into League One. Last season was great for me personally and I’m hoping this season I can prove that I’m able to compete at this level. I’m looking forward to pushing myself to improve at a higher level to hopefully come back to Newcastle and be closer to a first team place. I’m hoping to improve myself this season both technically and physically as well as learning the knowledge of the game a lot more. I’m hoping to play as many games as possible – and hopefully that gets us promoted.”
Loan manager Shola Ameobi must now decide which clubs will take youngsters like Matty Longstaff and Elliot Anderson. And there is a big decision to be made on Freddie Woodman who is available for loan after a successful spell at Swansea City.
