Like the rest of us, Patrick Bamford has been glued to Euro 2020 these past few weeks. For the Leeds United striker, it’s been a chance to enjoy being a fan and to get away from the pressure-cooker environment of the Premier League.
Patrick Bamford said: “I think I’ve probably watched 90 per cent of the games. There’s always been something on if I was every stuck for something to do I’d just put the football on. It’s nice because I can kind of switch off a little bit and just enjoy someone else doing the job.
But asked if whether he has been watching games purely as a fan or if he analyses the action in order to improve his own game, Bamford admitted that one player, in particular, has caught his eye.
Patrick Bamford said: “Bit of both really. I kind of watch the England games trying not to analyse it, just being a fan, but sometimes you obviously notice certain things. But then the other games, especially with the top strikers, I’ve watched a lot of France games with Benzema because I was interested to see how he moved and worked away from Real Madrid.”
