West Ham coach Stuart Pearce has revealed that manager David Moyes was disappointed with how the Premier League season ended for the Hammers.
Stuart Pearce said: “The manager was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get Champions League football. That’s how much he’s pushing the club on,”
European football is more than welcome at the London Stadium, says Pearce, despite the extra workload and hectic schedule it brings.
Stuart Pearce added: “We worked really hard last season to get into the league position that we ended up finishing in.I think it’s one one of these things, you don’t shy away from a European campaign, you work really hard to get there so once we’re there it’s worth embracing and looking forward to. It will be a tough year next year but it will be for all the teams, it’s something we’ve really got to embrace and we might have to add one or two players to the squad and see where it takes us – but I think it’s exciting times at West Ham.”
Moyes has shown his commitment to taking West Ham on further by signing a new three-year contract with the club and is planning for the long-term at the London Stadium. Pearce has previously said that his allegiance lies with Moyes after the Scot brought him to West Ham as a coach. The former England captain confirmed he is in negotiations with West Ham over a new deal to remain on Moyes backroom staff.
Stuart Pearce said: “Very, very close to it [a new contract] at the moment, just in the final stages. Hopefully, that will be announced very shortly, we are just in the final stages of it.”
