Marcus Rashford will put his feet up when England’s Euro 2020 adventure comes to an end after admitting he’s been playing through the pain barrier for a while. Rashford insists he knows his body well and knows whether he can continue to play through the injuries he’s battling and after a busy year he’s ready for one final push with England this summer.
Marcus Rashford said: “I understand my body well, and it’s been a while for me without playing with things that hold you back in some way. It’s the last push for this season and then we get some time off, so I’m just concentrating on giving everything I can while I’m here with the team.”
Rashford came off the bench for England on Sunday and could be used in a similar role on Friday night, when the Tartan Army visit Wembley. While the Three Lions got off to a winning start, Scotland were beaten by the Czech Republic at Hampden Park and travel south knowing they need a result. Whatever role Rashford plays, he knows he still has a part to play if England are to taste success in Euro 2020.
Marcus Rashford said: “Every single player wants to play, but from the tournaments I’ve been to in the past, it’s clear you need everyone to go a long distance in a tournament. Whether you’re on the bench or starting you have to be ready to come on and do your best, it’s important we keep that mentality. You want to play every game, it’s about your reaction to that, if you start sulking or not training properly it doesn’t have a good effect on the team. We all want to be pushing each other, it’s the manager’s decision and you have to respect that. For me, I just keep working hard in training and in the games when I do come on or I start.”
