The Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland has resumed after Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. Saturday’s game in Copenhagen was suspended following the incident as Danish player Eriksen received medical treatment. The former Tottenham star was then taken to hospital and is now said to be in a stable condition. His team-mates were understandably visibly shaken by events but it was agreed that the match should be concluded as soon as possible.
UEFA said in a statement: “Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET. The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half. Tonight’s UEFA EURO 2020 match between Belgium and Russia will go ahead at 21:00 CET as planned.”
BBC presenter Gary Lineker tweeted: “Extraordinarily the game between Denmark and Finland will resume at 7.30. This must suggest that Christian Eriksen is indeed stable.”
The Danish FA confirmed that Eriksen was awake and having further tests in hospital.
