Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has credited Aston Villa’s fans with helping to create a tricky atmosphere at Villa Park on Sunday.
Ben Chilwell said: “I am not sure. I think you have to give Villa credit. It was their first game back here with the fans and they played really well. You can still hear the fans now, they were good for them today. In the first half we were not good enough, we have created chances the whole game and have not put the game to bed when we should have. I don’t know how many chances they had but it seems like they probably scored two of their only chances. They played well today, we didn’t and we were nowhere near good enough. But we are in the Champions League so that is the main thing. I think we were angry at ourselves because we should have been winning the game. It was all to play for today, literally, we were not good enough. The main thing is that we are through, not down to ourselves thankfully down to Spurs, but we are through and that is the main thing.”
