Stuart Dallas got Leeds United on their way against Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime, opening the scoring in a 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Leeds were up against a Spurs side that needed a win to keep their top-four hopes alive, but typically committed performance from Marcelo Bielsa’s side saw them register one of their best wins of the campaign. Dallas insisted that despite Leeds having little to play for in terms of the end-of-season shake-up, motivation is not an issue for him and his team-mates.
Stuart Dallas said: “It’s important that we don’t just settle for the position that we’re in this year. Going into today we had four games left and we want to finish as high up the table as possible and that’s a great start for us and gives us great confidence going into the last three games. When you play for this club you don’t need any motivation. In the previous two seasons we’ve been going for promotion and now we possibly don’t have anything to play for but its I’mportnat that we finish as high up the table as possible. You don’t need motivation when you play for this club. We represent a lot of people here and it’s important that we put a performance in every week and I thought today the boys were outstanding from start to finish.”
Dallas, who celebrated winning the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Month award for April this week, also spoke of his delight at seeing another of the so-called ‘Big Six’ dropping points at Elland Road.
Stuart Dallas added: “When we’re playing against the see teams we’re playing against world-class players. We’ve got to play full tilt. We can’t be carrying any passengers. We don’t have the luxury of having world-class players to turn to so it’s important that we put in a performance, so the big six have come here and failed to beat us and we’re delighted with that. It’s a great first season back for us in the Premier League and it gives us a benchmark to aim towards next season.”
