Relegation was no longer a forbidden word when Forest was the subject admitted their legendary manager Brian Clough. After Forest was dumped out of the FA Cup fifth round by Arsenal at the Highbury, surviving the drop was the only agenda left on the club’s plate for that season.

Brian Clough said “We must solve our scoring problems. We will almost certainly go down if we don’t address that. The match against Middlesborough is crucial, we must win it and dare not lose that one. After that QPR arrive here, that is another match which is going to be crucial for us”
