David Moyes accredited West Ham United’s poor performance to Leeds United’s quality despite coming away with a 2-0 victory. Speaking after the match, both Moyes and Declan Rice admitted the Hammers were disappointed with their display but the West Ham boss credited Leeds for making the game so difficult.
David Moyes said: “Not a good performance, not by our standards. The players are disappointed with how they’ve performed and they’ve set really good standards. I think Leeds United do a lot to you, I think they make it really difficult for you to play. Obviously, you have to get into the game which can be difficult, you need your forward players to play well, retain the ball, make simple things happen and I feel like we didn’t do that tonight. Because of Leeds United, we knew it, everybody does, but you only need to look at the games. That’s why this game is probably on tonight because everyone knows Leeds United are a very good watch and they will always challenge every team with the style they play.”
