West Brom’s win against Sheffield United was crucial and Bilic reflected those emotions as he fielded questions on the six pointer. West Brom came very close to picking up points against Spurs and Manchester United but a narrow one goal defeats had dampened the spirits for the Baggies.
Slaven Bilic said “It was a huge three points, it was crucial for both teams, that’s why it was a good game. We’re delighted with the points, I’m pleased with the way we played, Although it’s not late in the season, it’s more than three points – a six pointer. It was against a team that is around you, so it is one of those games that is more than a normal win. It’s great to win – it’s the first win, no matter how well we think we’re playing, we didn’t get anything from the last few games. Then there’s that cloud, when are we going to get our first win? We had to capitalise on that and bring something home with us. I didn’t lie – we had a great work ethic on the training ground, a great atmosphere, but we weren’t getting the results or the rewards. We have now, and we must take it into our coming games. We deserved the good fortune,” Bilic reasoned. “The most important thing was to win – I’m played with the way we played, they had a few chances but we did too. Of course they’re risking more at the end, they’re throwing bodies. We should’ve used the counter attacks a bit better to kill the game off, but we sustained the pressure.”
