Midfielder Sander Berge says Sheffield United must approach Saturday’s game at home to Man City with the same ‘fearless’ approach as the one they showed at Anfield last weekend. The Blades returned from the evening game against the champions on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline but produced their best performance of the season. They took a 13th-minute lead through Berge’s penalty following a foul from behind on Oli McBurnie on the edge of the area by Fabinho. Berge made no mistake from the spot, sending keeper Alisson the wrong way. But although they left Anfield empty handed, there was plenty of encouragement to take from the performance. Berge’s message now to his team-mates is simple – they must reproduce that against City on Saturday.
Sander Berge said “We showed a lot of confidence and belief in what we are doing, There was a strong and aggressive team out there and that’s the Sheffield United way. If we keep playing like this I am 100% sure the results will change. It’s not easy to come here after a lot of games lost on the run, but this shows that we really believe and we will keep pushing and results will turn for us. No doubt that performance shows we are getting back to the team from last season. Very proud of everyone, we came here with no fear and played our game to the fullest. We showed them no respect, so let’s build from this and go into the Man City game with confidence and belief.”
