Micah Richards and Danny Murphy both believe that Sheffield United need to add more creativity to their play to avoid being predictable after a poor start to the season. The Blades are yet to win a Premier League match this season but picked up their first point against Fulham at on Sunday with a 1-1 draw. Having only scored two goals in the league this season, the lowest amount, Murphy and Richards believe that teams have sussed out how Sheffield United play and Wilder must find a way to inject more creativity into his side.
Micah Richards said “They need a confidence boost and creativity. When they first came up, they had the centre-backs who would overlap but teams seem to have worked them out a little bit. They need a little bit more creativity. I know they have brought Brewster in, he is a little bit of a gamble, he is young but I believe he will get goals with more minutes. But they do need more creativity. They are struggling.”
Danny Murphy said “I think variation of play as well. I think teams are ready for Sheffield United. We are talking about a very dedicated and talented manager who will find a way. They have a tough run but their backs are against the wall, we have seen it with West Ham, look at where they are.”
Chris Wilder’s side looked to be heading for an eighth-consecutive defeat in the league before Billy Sharp smashed home a penalty in the 85th minute to rescue a point. With a trip to Anfield to take on champions Liverpool up next, the games don’t come much easier for United. Manchester City and Chelsea follow the Liverpool clash in what is an incredibly tough-looking month for the Blades.
