Morgan Rogers
Arsenal has set its sights on Morgan Rogers, a former Manchester City talent, as a potential addition to their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Gunners are keen to prevent Rogers from continuing his partnership with Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa next season, as both players have been named in the England squad for the World Cup under Thomas Tuchel. Arsenal aims to bolster their team with Rogers’ creative prowess.
Ollie Watkins said: “I always say to him, or sometimes I say to the boys, like, ‘boys, look for Morgan, give him the ball.’ Because I know if Morgan gets the ball, he’s going to look for me. So I’m saying: ‘get the ball to Morgan.’ But not only that, not selfishly because of me, but because he’s a player that can create things from nothing, you know, he’s very talented.”
Ollie Watkins also mentioned: “Like, you know how it is, you can have a team-mate, and you may not know anything about their personal life, or not speak to them for ages. And I feel like if I see him, you know, going into a tackle or whatever, and he gets fouled, I’m there to back him up, or I feel like the connection is much better. So, yeah, I felt like the relationship is built off the pitch, and then the better off the pitch is taken onto the pitch. We’re always working hard together. Whenever he gets the ball, he’s always looking for me, and vice versa.”
Rogers, who has shared the pitch with Watkins 120 times across club and international fixtures, is known for his ability to create opportunities from seemingly impossible situations. This skill has not gone unnoticed by Arsenal, who are eager to integrate such talent into their squad. The potential transfer could also see Rogers forming new bonds with fellow England internationals like Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke during the World Cup in North America.
The chemistry between Rogers and Watkins, both on and off the pitch, has been a significant factor in their successful collaborations. Arsenal’s interest in Rogers underscores their desire to inject creativity and flair into their lineup, potentially altering the dynamics of their gameplay in the forthcoming season.
