David Moyes
Everton manager David Moyes is grappling with a selection dilemma as his team prepares to face Crystal Palace this Sunday. The key decision revolves around who will lead the attack, with both Thierno Barry and Beto presenting compelling cases for inclusion. This conundrum has been a recurring theme for Moyes throughout the season, as he navigates the challenges of maintaining form and fitness within his squad.
David Moyes said: “A little bit when somebody scores two goals. Beto has been quite consistent in the last month or so from that point of view there’s another argument to that. We’ve chopped and changed a little bit with them to find who’s in form, who is scoring, who looks good in training.”
David Moyes said: “Maybe. You need to change a few bits and pieces with the team for that to happen. We’ve done it before, we’ve tried it before in the odd game. If I get to the point where I have to do it to try and win or it’s a must-win situation then I would try and get the most attacking players on the pitch as I can.”
The dilemma is further compounded by recent performances. Beto, who had been a consistent presence in the starting lineup, was sidelined due to a concussion sustained against Liverpool. However, he made his return against Manchester City, only to be substituted after 64 minutes. His replacement, Thierno Barry, seized the opportunity by scoring twice, helping secure a 3-3 draw. This performance has given Moyes much to ponder as he considers his options for the upcoming match.
Meanwhile, Tyler Dibling’s situation adds another layer of complexity to Moyes’ selection headaches. Dibling, a £35 million signing from Southampton, has struggled to find his footing at Everton. Despite his potential, the young winger has seen limited action, featuring for just a solitary minute in Everton’s last 11 matches. Moyes acknowledges Dibling’s talent but emphasizes the challenges the player has faced in settling into the team, particularly with the presence of established players like Jack Grealish.
David Moyes said: “He’s a young player with a lot of potential. He’s probably found it a little bit difficult settling and getting game time, especially at the start with Jack Grealish in the team. We like him a lot. We think he’s got a lot of talent, so he’ll have a lot to show next year and hopefully he’ll show that when he gets the opportunities.”
As Everton prepares for their encounter with Crystal Palace, Moyes must weigh his options carefully. The decision on who will spearhead the attack could prove pivotal, not just for the match but for the remainder of the season. With Barry and Beto both eager to make their mark, and Dibling striving to fulfill his potential, Moyes faces a challenging yet exciting task in shaping his team’s fortunes.
