Daniel Farke
Leeds United is grappling with an injury setback as manager Daniel Farke confirmed that Swedish defender Gabriel Gudmundsson will be sidelined for at least two matches. This includes the crucial Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, which could have significant implications for both teams’ standings. Additionally, Leeds faces uncertainty over the fitness of Noah Okafor and Jaki Bijol, adding further concerns to their squad depth.
Daniel Farke said: “It is a hamstring injury and it is also a bit of a serious injury. He will miss the game on Friday and as it stands the Tottenham game. After that, we will have to see. Obviously, we will try to bring him back as soon as we can. He has been an impressive performer at full-back, and Farke will be disappointed to lose the experienced star.”
Farke added: “We have one or two question marks. Noah Okafor got a hit against his calf and there is a question mark about his availability. Also, Jaki Bijol has a problem with his hip flexor. I hope to have both available but I can’t say right now if it is possible.”
The potential absence of these three players could significantly impact Leeds’ performance against Tottenham, who are currently battling to avoid relegation. Leeds is only six points above the north London club, making their May 11 clash a critical encounter for both sides. The match is set to take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Spurs are eager to capitalize on Leeds’ injury woes.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi remains optimistic about his team’s chances of survival in the Premier League. Following a vital victory over Wolves, he expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to secure their top-flight status.
Roberto De Zerbi said: “I believe to stay up. If I stay here, it’s because I’m positive, now, because I’m a coach of Tottenham, Tottenham is not important on the pitch, if you are Tottenham or another team, the most important are the qualities of the players, and the human level of the players. It was a surprise for me, because I didn’t know them, and when I knew better my players, I understood that we have the possibility, the chance to stay up. We have two points, not 10 points, we have two points from West Ham. West Ham are a good team, but also Tottenham are very good players and a very good team.”
Before facing Leeds, Tottenham will travel to Aston Villa on Sunday evening, adding further pressure to their schedule. The upcoming matches are pivotal for Spurs, who are determined to leverage any advantage in their fight for Premier League survival.
