Everton’s upcoming fixture against Brentford could prove pivotal in their quest for a Champions League spot. A victory for the Toffees, coupled with a Liverpool loss to Fulham, would see the Merseyside rivals level on points, intensifying the race for European qualification. The match is seen as a 50-50 contest, with Everton needing to focus on taking it one game at a time.
Anders Limpar said: “If we win an important game like that, we can go above them, so they have to take it one game at a time and just play their own game.”
In addition to the immediate focus on the Brentford match, Everton’s long-term strategy involves strengthening their squad. A key area identified for improvement is the striking department, with discussions around potential targets already underway. Limpar, speaking to NewBettingSites.uk, weighed in on the prospect of bringing back Romelu Lukaku, currently with Napoli but struggling with injuries.
Anders Limpar said: “He was really good for Everton but that was 10 years ago and I’m not sure if it would be a good thing to bring him in. It certainly could be a good thing because he knows Everton.”
Everton’s ambitions extend beyond just one player. The club is reportedly in talks with Manchester City to extend Jack Grealish’s stay, and there are discussions about adding Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to the squad. These additions, alongside Idrissa Gueye in midfield, are seen as a solid foundation for future success.
Anders Limpar said: “Everton could have Jack Grealish, Romelu Lukaku and Iliman Ndiaye up front and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in midfield with Idrissa Gueye. That’s a solid foundation to build on, and Everton even have the stadium for it now.”
Everton’s aspirations are supported by a strong managerial presence and financial backing. The club’s management, led by David Moyes, is seen as capable of propelling them into the top five in the coming years, thanks to strategic player acquisitions and robust financial support from the owners.
Anders Limpar said: “Everton can be a top-five club for seasons ahead. We have the manager to do it. David Moyes is clever. They’re not there yet but not by miles and we have good owners who have a lot of money who can bring in four or five players. I definitely think we are going to be in the top five for the next few years. It’s good times nowadays for Everton.”
With a crucial match against Brentford on the horizon and ambitious plans for the future, Everton is poised for a significant push towards consistent top-tier finishes in the Premier League.
