Iliman Ndiaye
Former Everton star Pat Nevin has shared his thoughts on Iliman Ndiaye, suggesting that the talented winger is capable of playing for any top club, including Manchester United or Liverpool. Despite this, Nevin believes it would be wise for Ndiaye to continue his career at Everton, where he has been making significant strides.
Pat Nevin said: “Iliman Ndiaye was easily already good enough for Manchester United or Liverpool a year ago as far as I am concerned. Watching him play, I just wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester City even came for him.”
He continued: “He is a great player and at Manchester City he would just get the ball even more in the final third with fantastic players around him. He is really up there and he could play there. I am sure he has the level, but would he play week in week out? I think you have to consider that, and he is the type of player where I would urge him to stay. I don’t think it would work out, but he is good enough to do it. Sometimes it is better being a big fish in a small pond.”
Ndiaye has been enjoying a breakout season, with his performances in the Premier League and his influence in Senegal’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations final drawing widespread attention. Despite Senegal being stripped of their win, Ndiaye’s skillful displays have intensified interest in his abilities. The 26-year-old’s stunning solo goal at Sunderland and his superb finish against Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium are just some of the highlights of his recent performances.
Ndiaye’s form over the last 18 months has been impressive, making him one of Everton’s standout players last season. This season, he is the club’s joint-top scorer in the Premier League, despite missing over a month due to his involvement in the AFCON. Nevin’s comments highlight the dilemma faced by talented players like Ndiaye, who must weigh the benefits of staying at a club where they are a key figure against the allure of joining a top-tier team.
