Sir Alex Ferguson
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to release a new memoir titled “Games of My Life,” which will be available in October. The book will explore 21 football matches that have significantly impacted Ferguson’s life. Unlike his previous autobiography, this memoir will provide a personal narrative through the lens of football, featuring never-before-seen photographs and memorabilia from Ferguson’s private collection.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: “I’ve selected 21 football games for this book which are particularly meaningful to me. The choices may surprise you because, rather than dwelling on the matches I’ve written about previously or those that might immediately register in the minds of fans, I’ve chosen games that take me back to different points in my life and which, even after the decades have passed, count for so much. Some of these games are not in any television archive. They are just memories.”
John Cotterill, non-fiction buyer at Waterstones said: “Sir Alex Ferguson is the most decorated manager in football history and an icon of the modern game. His previous books have been global bestsellers, and their honesty and openness have given us a remarkable insight into his inspirational character and glittering career. We’re thrilled Sir Alex has written a new book and we look forward with great excitement to sharing it with our customers this autumn.”
The memoir, co-authored by Sir Michael Moritz, former Chairman of Sequoia Capital, promises to be a comprehensive account of Ferguson’s life, told through the football matches that have shaped him. The book will be available in hardback, eBook, and audio formats, offering fans a unique glimpse into the personal and professional milestones of one of football’s most iconic figures.
Ferguson’s previous autobiography, released in 2013, was a global success, providing an in-depth look at his time in football. However, “Games of My Life” aims to delve deeper into his personal journey, using football as a narrative thread to connect pivotal moments in his life. The memoir is expected to resonate with fans and readers alike, offering both nostalgia and new insights into Ferguson’s storied career.
