Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest’s newly appointed manager, Vitor Pereira, expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to maintain their Premier League status during his first press conference at the City Ground. Pereira, who takes over from Sean Dyche, emphasized his belief in the squad’s quality and the club’s potential, drawing on his successful experience at Wolverhampton Wanderers to inspire hope among Forest fans.
Vitor Pereira said: “I believe that it’s possible (to stay up). I believe that we can. We can get points, results and quality in our game. I’m not an actor. I am a very simple guy, a very honest guy, a hard worker, confident, and, in the end, when I feel that I deserve the pints, of course. The reason why I accepted this job is that I believe in the quality of the players, because I believe in the potential of this club, the ambition of the president and because I believe in the league. This is the best league in the world, in my opinion, and because I really believe in our work, together we can increase our level.”
Pereira, known for his ‘points and then pints’ mantra from his time at Wolves, has signed an 18-month contract with Nottingham Forest. The team currently sits three points clear of the relegation zone, but with West Ham United closely trailing, the pressure is on to secure their top-flight status. Despite the challenging circumstances, Pereira remains optimistic about the squad’s capabilities.
Vitor Pereira said: “I prefer to speak about the present and the future, but it’s a difficult, difficult season for the players because it’s different methodologies, different managers and it’s not easy. They have quality and I realised this quality the first time last season when they played in Wolverhampton. We have top players. We have top players, in my opinion, and we can be a top team. I think we have a good squad. The squad is balanced in every position. I’m very happy with them.”
Nottingham Forest has experienced a tumultuous season, with Pereira becoming the fourth manager to take charge within the current campaign. However, his focus remains on leveraging the existing talent within the team to ensure survival. Pereira’s track record of fostering unity and resilience at Wolves suggests he could be the right leader to guide Forest through this critical period.
