Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest’s new manager, Vitor Pereira, is determined to revitalize the club’s fortunes by drawing on his past success with owner Evangelos Marinakis. Pereira, who is the club’s fourth manager this season, brings a wealth of experience and a history of triumph alongside Marinakis, having previously secured a league and cup double at Olympiacos. As Forest grapples with a challenging campaign, Pereira’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to steer the club away from relegation threats.
Vitor Pereira said: “He has ambition, he wants to win and emotional. I know that very well. The conversation was about our time in Olympiacos. I remember the fire and the energy we created. Greece is a bit like Turkey, they have fire. They like to see the energy. He asked me to be myself because he liked the way that when we worked together in Olympiacos. We won the league and then the cup. We created a good relationship. I trust my work. I trust his. I think we need passion in football. I have fire because I have passion. Football is my passion. Football is something that sleeps with me and wakes up with me.”
Pereira’s reunion with Marinakis is expected to bring a renewed sense of vigor and direction to Nottingham Forest. The club is currently precariously positioned just three points above the Premier League relegation zone. Pereira’s task is made more pressing by the competitive threat posed by West Ham, who are showing signs of improvement under former manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Forest’s season has been tumultuous, marked by the departures of Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche. Pereira’s challenge will be to stabilize the team and extract performances that align with the significant investments made by Marinakis in the squad.
Pereira added: “It’s much more than tactical things. I learned that this is a league where we cannot make mistakes because you will be punished for mistakes due to its high level. Football is beautiful because we are under pressure. I need the pressure to be at my best level. Pressure is important.”
Pereira’s emphasis on passion and attention to detail could be pivotal in navigating the high-stakes environment of the Premier League. His experience and previous success with Marinakis suggest a promising partnership that may just provide the spark Forest needs to turn their season around.
