David Moyes
Everton manager David Moyes is set to welcome back Ukrainian left-back Vitalii Mykolenko into his squad for the upcoming match against Fulham. Mykolenko’s return comes after a brief absence due to a knock sustained at Finch Farm last week. This development allows Moyes to adjust his defensive plans, which had previously included the newly-fit Jarrad Branthwaite as cover.
David Moyes said: “He’s back training and he is in the squad.”
While Mykolenko’s return is a positive step for Everton, the team faces a significant setback with the loss of Jack Grealish. The playmaker, on loan from Manchester City, is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a stress fracture in his foot. Grealish’s absence is a blow to Moyes’ ambitions of securing a European spot for Everton this season. In response to this challenge, Everton has secured the services of Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea. The club has an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Moyes said: “I think he has settled in fine, he has had a few days training with us now. He’s played a lot of first team football with Chelsea… he is still a young player but he gives us some back-up with the injury to Jack Grealish so because of that it gives us an extra player, which was required.”
The addition of Tyrique George is a strategic move to bolster the squad depth, especially in light of Grealish’s injury. George, a promising 20-year-old, brings experience from his time at Chelsea and is expected to provide much-needed support to the team. Moyes’ squad has experienced a transformation over the past two months, with the current lineup offering more options than previously available. The manager’s ability to integrate new talent and manage injuries will be crucial as Everton aims to climb the Premier League table and contend for European qualification.
