Sunderland’s transfer dealings have been a topic of keen interest, with recent developments involving Sidiki Cherif and Tommy Watson capturing attention. Cherif, an emerging forward, was previously linked with a move to the Premier League, specifically to Crystal Palace. However, negotiations stalled, leading to interest from other clubs, including Championship side Wrexham, which reportedly prepared a £19 million bid. Meanwhile, Millwall has shown interest in Brighton winger Tommy Watson, a Sunderland play-off final hero, exploring a loan deal as the transfer window deadline looms.
Fabrizio Romano said: “Sidiki Cherif informs Angers about his preference to join Fenerbahce as clear priority. Fenerbahce offer for the striker: loan with obligation to buy worth package around €22m [£19.1m].”
Fabian Hurzeler said: “Yes, also for him a loan is a possibility. But I think regarding him, the most important thing is that he gets back into his rhythm regarding his availability, because again, last week he couldn’t train regularly. He missed some sessions, and I think that’s the worst thing that can happen to a young player to not get into a rhythm, to not be on the training pitch, to not train with the boys, to not have the opportunity to improve himself and to show himself. So therefore I think the main thing for him is getting into rhythm, and then, like I just mentioned, we have to make the right decision for the club and the player.”
The situation surrounding Sidiki Cherif has taken a significant turn as he expressed his desire to join Fenerbahce. The Turkish club has proposed a loan deal with an obligation to purchase, valued at approximately £19.1 million. This development comes amidst interest from clubs like Newcastle United, AC Milan, and Stuttgart, highlighting Cherif’s growing reputation in European football.
On the other hand, Tommy Watson’s potential loan move has sparked interest within the Championship. Millwall has initiated talks with Brighton for a temporary deal, with other clubs also monitoring the situation. Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler emphasized the importance of Watson regaining his rhythm, noting the impact of recent training disruptions on the young player’s development. As the transfer window deadline approaches, Sunderland’s strategy will be crucial in determining the future of these players.
