Burnley is set to make a late decision on the fitness of Zian Flemming as they prepare to face Tottenham this Saturday. The Dutch midfielder has been out of action since just after Christmas due to a knock, missing the last five matches. While both Flemming and Joe Worrall have returned to training, it remains uncertain if Flemming will be match-ready for the weekend encounter.
Scott Parker said: “Zian probably was a little bit later in terms of returning this week, so we’ll make a call on that a little bit closer to the game. We’ll see how he came through yesterday’s training, because we had a bit of a down day today [Thursday]. We’ll train again tomorrow, so we’ll make a call on that.”
Scott Parker continued: “Elsewhere, Maxime Esteve should be fine to feature despite his injury scare against Liverpool last time out, which turned out to just be a case of cramp.”
Scott Parker added: “When asked if there’s a chance of Beyer, Roberts or Amdouni featuring this season, having not played yet, Parker said: ‘I think there is, for sure there is. I still think they’re a little bit down the road in terms of when we’re going to see them, but all three of them really, or at least two of them, are starting. They’re on the grass now, so definitely there could be an option that we may see them.'”
Burnley’s injury list remains extensive, with Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, Josh Cullen, Mike Tresor, and Zeki Amdouni all sidelined. Cullen’s ACL injury is expected to keep him out for approximately nine months, while Tresor is facing a “number of weeks” out due to an ankle injury. Despite these setbacks, Parker remains optimistic about the potential return of Beyer, Roberts, and Amdouni later in the season, as they have begun training on the grass.
The Clarets will be hoping for positive news regarding Flemming’s availability, as his presence could provide a much-needed boost against a strong Tottenham side. As the team navigates these injury challenges, Parker’s squad will need to demonstrate resilience and adaptability to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League.
