Fenerbahce’s manager, Domenico Tedesco, has candidly addressed the hurdles his team faces ahead of a crucial encounter with Aston Villa. Domenico Tedesco said: “It depends a lot on tomorrow’s game. We are currently in the middle, and they are a top team. It will be very difficult. If we don’t win, then it will be very difficult to be in the top eight.”
The former Belgium manager has urged his players to approach the game against Villa with passion, capitalizing on the support of the home crowd. He highlighted the importance of structure and possession in their gameplay to succeed at this level.
Tedesco added: “I think that we beat Stuttgart and Nice because of emotions, but without structure and possession we have no chance at that level. They are a ball-playing team, but they have this unbelievable vertical approach. As soon as they have a free foot, they have two runners. They can play deep, press high, and play on counter attacks. They are a great club and a great coach.”
Tedesco also acknowledged the multiple attacking threats posed by Villa, particularly their proficiency in scoring from long range. Aston Villa has already netted an impressive 12 goals from outside the penalty area in just 11 Premier League matches this season.
The Fenerbahce boss explained: “After a lot of those goals were about set-pieces, they had lots of second waves to then shoot. They have good quality to shoot from distance. I remember a goal from Cash, who is always in this position, and Rogers too – he has a lot of quality. Youri Tielemans too.”
