Ruben Amorim
Manchester United are reportedly considering bolstering their midfield options, with Carlos Baleba emerging as a potential target. According to Sky Sports, the club has explored the conditions for signing the 21-year-old during the January transfer window. However, Brighton & Hove Albion, Baleba’s current club, are reportedly planning to keep hold of the midfielder until at least the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have already spent significantly in the recent summer transfer window, but it seems manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for squad reinforcement are far from over. Midfield reinforcements are said to be Amorim’s top priority as he looks to rebuild the team. Alongside Baleba, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest is also on the radar.
Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton should be the club’s primary target next summer.
Rene Meulensteen said: “I’m a big fan of Wharton; I think he should be the number one priority for United next summer. He would be the perfect player to add to their squad, but I don’t think the move will be possible until next summer. He’s got great feet, and he is an effective and efficient player. He’s great in small spaces when he is being closed down quickly, and he always breaks the lines to find his unmarked teammates. His range of passing is second to none, and he has Premier League experience playing in the same formation that Amorim is playing at Man United.”
The focus for Manchester United remains on securing a spot in the Champions League, with the club currently in a competitive position in the league standings. Amorim has emphasized the importance of focusing on the upcoming games rather than being distracted by transfer speculation.
Ruben Amorim said: “The transfer window is not going to change. We have no conversations in this moment to have any change in the squad. There’s a process, there’s an idea that is going to continue. We are near the places of the Champions League, but we are near also for like eight teams behind us so let’s focus on the next game. Just that. Our focus is to win the next game.”
As Manchester United navigate the current season, the club’s management appears to be strategically planning for future transfer windows, with midfield reinforcements being a key aspect of their long-term vision.
