Dominic Calvert Lewis
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s recent performances have positioned him as one of Europe’s most in-form strikers. His header in Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against Brentford marked his fourth goal in as many games, prompting discussions about a potential call-up by England manager Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming internationals and next summer’s tournament.
Daniel Farke said: “call me any time” when asked about Calvert-Lewin’s England chances post-Brentford. “He’s done it, Dominic has several caps for England and also quite a good goal record,” said Farke. “So his quality and his potential was and is never in doubt. He knows exactly what he needs in order to be successful at a World Cup. But for Dominic, it’s the same for each and every player – if you deliver with consistency, not just for a few games or for a few weeks, if you can show consistency in terms of performances over months, then you have all chances also to be involved. And for me, he’s definitely one of the best English strikers in the Premier League. And for that there is no limit. And of course, he has a chance.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin said: “It’s always the goal to play for your country and to represent your country at a World Cup. For me my job is to do as best as possible for Leeds United and that is what I am here to do, the rest takes care of itself.”
Calvert-Lewin, who has scored four goals in 11 caps for England, has not been called up for more than four years since the delayed Euro 2021. However, his recent form has reignited hopes of a return to the national team. Leeds United manager Daniel Farke, a close ally of Thomas Tuchel, expressed his belief in Calvert-Lewin’s potential and emphasized the importance of consistent performance over time.
Looking ahead, Calvert-Lewin will aim to continue his scoring streak as Leeds United face Crystal Palace in an upcoming fixture. The match, originally scheduled for a later date, was brought forward to accommodate Crystal Palace’s League Cup quarter-final tie with Arsenal. Unfortunately, Leeds will be without Lukas Nmecha, who has not recovered from a hamstring injury, while Daniel James and Sean Longstaff remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
Calvert-Lewin’s recent form and potential England call-up highlight his resurgence as a key player for Leeds United and a potential asset for the national team.
