Ron Atkinson was ready to drop some of his big-name players for the upcoming matches starting with Coca Cola cup match against Arch rivals Birmingham at Villa Park. After their dreadful performance against Newcastle, Big Ron believes that a few stars dropped might shake squad out of its lethargy.
Ron Atkinson said “This is a game we dare not lose. We are making as detailed preparation as we can, even though we’re a goal up from the first leg. No more than half a dozen of the side that lost to Newcastle can be sure of a place in the team for this tie. This has nothing to do with Saturday’s defeat. Spink was one of our best performers on the day. But I have another class goalkeeper in my squad and I want to give Mark Bosnich a run.”
