Trevor Francis was tipping Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United marvels to lift the European Cup and the Premiership that season. The Sheffield Wednesday manager reckoned that United was the best team in British Soccer for years and was confident they could clinch a unique double. Francis had watched United power back from a goal down at Hillsborough to win 3-2 and go five points clear at the top of the table.

Trevor Francis said “They have so many outstanding players. They waited a long time to regain the game’s coveted prize and this success has given them added confidence. Don’t be surprised if they win the title again and while you have to say AC Milan are European Cup favourites, I have a hunch United could go allthe way in this competition too.”
