Ruben Amorim
Manchester United’s current manager, Ruben Amorim, is facing significant pressure as the team’s performance continues to falter. With the club languishing in the Premier League standings, speculation is mounting about Amorim’s future at Old Trafford. Amidst this uncertainty, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Dino Toppmoller has expressed his desire to manage in the Premier League, potentially eyeing the Manchester United role.
Dino Toppmoller said: “Basically it’s a dream to be at Frankfurt. It’s simply a fantastic club. Here, as a teenager, I witnessed for the first time that my father was a Bundesliga coach. That naturally creates an emotional bond with the club. Thinking about abroad, I often played computer games as a child, always with one team: Manchester United. That would definitely be nice some day because it’s an extraordinary club. When I was a teenager, Manchester United were along with Real Madrid the biggest club of all.”
Toppmoller has built a strong reputation in Germany, having previously worked as an assistant at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. Since taking over at Frankfurt in July 2023, he has won 46% of his matches and developed talents like Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike, who have both moved to the Premier League. Frankfurt’s recent 5-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League further highlights Toppmoller’s capabilities as a manager.
Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Manchester United has been underwhelming, with only 19 wins in 48 matches since replacing Erik ten Hag. Despite being backed with over £200 million for new signings after a disappointing Europa League final, Amorim’s team has struggled to improve, currently sitting 11th in the Premier League. The recent Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby has only added to the mounting pressure on Amorim.
While Amorim still enjoys the support of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos, the situation remains precarious. Upcoming fixtures against Brentford and Sunderland will be crucial in determining his future at the club. Meanwhile, Toppmoller’s public expression of interest in the Premier League suggests he is positioning himself for a potential opportunity should Manchester United decide to make a managerial change.
