Nottingham Forest are grappling with injury concerns as they prepare for a pivotal Premier League encounter against Burnley at Turf Moor. The fitness of centre-back Murillo remains uncertain after he sustained a knock during the first half of last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. Consequently, Murillo missed the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Swansea City, which ended in a 3-2 loss for Forest. Head coach Ange Postecoglou is expected to make a last-minute decision regarding Murillo’s participation in Saturday’s match.
Ange Postecoglou said: “He’s still a doubt. He did some individual work today and we will give him a little bit more time. He’s still a little bit sore. It’s just a matter of whether he can cope with it. We’ll make a late decision, but he’s a doubt. That’s the nature of the business, you’re always going to get some disruptions along the way.”
Should Murillo be deemed unfit, fellow Brazilian Morato is poised to fill the defensive void alongside Nikola Milenkovic. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Murillo, there is positive news on the injury front for Forest. Midfielder Nicolas Dominguez is reportedly making significant strides in his recovery from a knee issue that has sidelined him since May. Dominguez underwent surgery over the summer and is anticipated to rejoin full team training next week.
Postecoglou added: “Health wise, everyone else is OK. Nico Dominguez is hopefully getting ready to integrate into full team training next week. That will be great for him and great for us to have him back in the squad.”
Forest, still in search of their first victory under Postecoglou, are aware of the challenges posed by Burnley, managed by Scott Parker. The Clarets have shown resilience and tactical acumen under Parker’s leadership, making the upcoming clash a formidable test for the Reds.
Postecoglou remarked: “There are no easy tests in the Premier League now, that’s pretty evident. Scott has done a brilliant job since he went to Burnley. A couple of the staff members I’ve had have worked with Scott in the past and said he is a fantastic person and a great coach. He looks like a real smart guy and he has got them set up really well.”
As Nottingham Forest head to Lancashire, the team is focused on overcoming the injury setbacks and securing their first win in the league. The match promises to be a challenging encounter, with both sides eager to make their mark in the Premier League.
