Yves Bissouma
Yves Bissouma, the former Brighton midfielder now with Tottenham Hotspur, finds himself in a challenging position as he is sidelined with a knee injury. This setback has not only ruled him out of the upcoming match against his former club at the Amex Stadium but also thwarted any potential transfer opportunities before the summer window closed. The injury, sustained on August 15, has been a significant blow to Bissouma’s career progression, which has not quite reached the heights expected since his departure from Brighton three years ago.
Frank said: “That I actually don’t know. The players available now are the players I have available. Of course I know (about his recovery) but that is further down the line. To be fair he has just started to run outside, so he is not part of the group but everything I have seen when I’ve said hello to him and every day with the players, he seems good. There are no hard feelings at all. Not before, not now, not at all. Train well and everyone has an opportunity.”
Despite his current absence, Bissouma may still have a role to play for Tottenham, especially as the club faces the challenge of balancing domestic and Champions League commitments over the next five months. As Spurs prepare to manage three games in a week for the first time this season, the team’s depth will be tested. While Ange Postecoglou, the current manager, has previously found the dual demands of Premier League and European football challenging, former Brentford manager Frank remains optimistic about the team’s ability to cope.
Frank added: “I think when you have the first and then the second one against Villarreal, it is easy-ish to get going again. Then the body has to go again for the third time. If it goes Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday then there is basically no break. If it is three games, then a free week, then three games then it is definitely always the third game that is the trickier one. Not impossible but just physical and mainly the mental side of the game.”
Bissouma’s recovery and potential return to the squad could be crucial for Tottenham as they navigate a demanding schedule. The club will need all hands on deck to maintain competitiveness across multiple fronts. For Bissouma, the focus will be on regaining fitness and proving his worth to the team once he is back in action. His journey back to the pitch will be closely watched by both Spurs fans and those who remember his impactful performances at Brighton.
