Nick Woltemades
Nick Woltemade made an immediate impact on his debut for Newcastle United, scoring a crucial goal that helped secure a victory at St James’ Park. The German striker, who recently joined the club following Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool, expressed his joy at both his personal performance and the team’s success.
Woltemade said: “It can’t be better – I was really happy when I scored the goal, but we won the game, so I am really happy for the team. It can’t be better for me on my debut, a goal on my home debut and a win, really happy. I want to enjoy every moment.”
Woltemade’s transfer to Newcastle was completed swiftly after Stuttgart accepted a £69 million bid for his services. The striker was eager to join Eddie Howe’s squad and wasted no time in making his mark.
Woltemade said: “My agent does his job, but as soon as he told me Newcastle were interested in me, I was really happy, then the talks started. I am just really happy to be here.”
Despite experiencing cramps during the match, which led to his substitution with 25 minutes remaining, Woltemade was full of praise for the Premier League’s intensity and the support from the Newcastle fans.
The German striker said: “The Premier League is quite hard, I had to go out because I had cramps. It was amazing, the atmosphere, the team played really good balls, they involved me a lot. I think we did quite good. It was a hard game because we didn’t win a game in the league before and it was really important that we won a game, especially a home game and we can look forward to the games.”
Woltemade also credited Newcastle manager Eddie Howe for instilling confidence in him and the team, which was evident in their performance.
He said: “I think the coach already gave me such a good feeling, so I felt good on the pitch. I knew what to do and I guess you saw today everybody knew what they have to do. This win was really important.”
The victory marked a significant moment for Newcastle United, as they had previously struggled to secure a win in the league. Woltemade’s contribution not only delighted the fans but also set a positive tone for his future at the club. His quick adaptation and enthusiasm are promising signs for Newcastle as they aim for a successful Premier League campaign.
