Nicolas Jackson
Nicolas Jackson, recently unveiled as a Bayern Munich player, has shared his thoughts on reuniting with former Chelsea teammates and his aspirations with the Bundesliga champions. Jackson’s transfer to Bayern Munich was finalized just before the summer window closed, despite initial concerns due to an injury to Liam Delap. The transfer terms were renegotiated, including a buy-obligation clause.
Nicolas Jackson said: “Obviously I know he is a big legend for this club. I have a lot of respect for him. I know him since before. My job is just to play and help the team win games. The number of games isn’t my focus. I want to achieve big things with the club.” On joining Bayern, he added: “I was really confident I could stay here. It was the place I wanted to be. I’d spoken beforehand with the coach and the bosses. I’m really happy to be here and training with the team. I know a few players and can hardly wait to start playing.”
Jackson’s debut for Bayern Munich might occur this weekend against Hamburg or during the upcoming Champions League match against Chelsea, where he will face many familiar faces.
Nicolas Jackson continued: “We’re playing against Chelsea, and lots of friends, on Wednesday. I’m looking forward to seeing them again and want to win the game.”
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s manager, also commented on Jackson’s departure and the current situation at the club.
Enzo Maresca said: “Nico, for me it’s quite easy in terms of, in this moment he’s a Bayern Munich player. I’ve sent him a message, I wish him all the best. Nico, until the day he was here, he was very good, he was working well. So I wish him all the best, and that’s the only thing I can say.”
Maresca also confirmed that Liam Delap, Chelsea’s new striker, will be sidelined for approximately three months due to a hamstring injury. This development, alongside concerns about Joao Pedro’s fitness and the recent international commitments of Andrey Santos, Estevao Willian, and Moises Caicedo, poses challenges for Chelsea ahead of their match against Brentford. However, there is optimism as Cole Palmer might return to action after partially training following his absence from the last two games.
