Nuno Espirito Santo
Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Nottingham Forest, has expressed his desire to restore harmony within the club following a period of speculation regarding his future. Ahead of Forest’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, Nuno had hinted at uncertainties surrounding his position at the City Ground. He acknowledged a strained relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis and addressed rumors suggesting he might be at risk of losing his job. Nuno emphasized the importance of focusing on the club’s well-being over individual concerns and is eager to engage in discussions to resolve any issues.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “We are going to have them (talks). We must, we must. What I think is we need to have these conversations, and we are going to have them. This is what I think is more important than anything. The players need it, the squad needs it, the club needs it, we need it. And we are going to have it. Everybody wants the best for Forest – me first. All the club wants the best for Forest. This is the first time in my career I am facing this situation and being asked these things. It is not helpful, but I believe conflict doesn’t work out. We have to create harmony.”
Nuno Espirito Santo added: “I cannot answer that question. But what I know is that I am working and trying to do my job the best I can. We are responsible people and we are going to have a good conversation to try to create, more than anything, a good platform for what is most important – the team.”
The match against Crystal Palace saw Callum Hudson-Odoi secure a point for Nottingham Forest after Ismaila Sarr had put the hosts ahead. The draw extended Forest’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Despite the rumors and a dramatic press conference on Friday, Nuno dismissed suggestions that he was attempting to orchestrate his own departure from the club.
Nuno Espirito Santo stated: “Absolute nonsense. Absurd. This narrative is absurd. I love what I do. The moment I don’t enjoy it, it is over. This is how football is. There are things I cannot control. What I said – and I had a long think about it – is my concern for the squad. Last season these boys achieved something fantastic. If we as a club don’t help them, in terms of numbers, quality and talent, everything will go. What we have ahead of us is Premier League, Europa League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup. You know how many games this means for us? This is the respect we have to show to our squad and help them.”
Nuno’s comments reflect his commitment to the club and his determination to address any internal conflicts. With a demanding season ahead, including participation in multiple competitions, the manager is focused on ensuring that the team is well-supported and equipped to handle the challenges. The upcoming talks with the club’s hierarchy are anticipated to play a crucial role in stabilizing the situation at Nottingham Forest.
