Trai Hume
Reports have surfaced regarding Wolfsburg’s interest in Sunderland’s right-back Trai Hume, with the German club reportedly prepared to offer £7.5 million for the player. However, Sunderland remains firm in their stance to keep Hume, valuing him significantly higher as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Downie said: “Wolfsburg do have an interest in Trai Hume, but I’m unaware of an official bid made to Sunderland at this stage. SAFC have been made aware of the interest in the right back, though. The 23-year-old has two years plus a year’s option on his SAFC deal and the club want to tie him down to a more lucrative deal since gaining promotion to the Premier League. Understand Wolfsburg are willing to pay £7.5m — but Sunderland don’t want to sell and value him much higher.”
Hume said: “I don’t think about that at all, I let my agent and the club deal with all that. I don’t want to think at all about that, I want to focus on my football.”
Hume has been a standout performer for Sunderland, catching the attention of several clubs with his performances. With two years remaining on his contract, plus an option for an additional year, Sunderland is keen to secure his future with a more rewarding deal. This determination comes as the club gears up for their Premier League campaign following their recent promotion.
In a separate transfer development, young Scottish talent Lennon Miller is set to join Udinese in Serie A. The midfielder, who has been linked with Sunderland and Celtic, will undergo a medical ahead of a £4.5 million transfer, which includes add-ons and a sell-on agreement. Miller’s move to Italy marks another significant step for a promising Scotland international.
Barry Anderson said: “Lennon Miller heading to Udinese for a medical ahead of a £4.5m transfer. Another top move to Serie A for a young Scotland internationalist. Motherwell get a good fee, add-ons and a sell-on agreement. Miller will be a key man for Scotland for years. Great talent.”
Miller’s transfer highlights the growing trend of young British players seeking opportunities in European leagues, further enhancing their development and international prospects. As Sunderland navigates the transfer window, the club’s focus remains on retaining key players like Hume to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
