Jean-Ricner Bellegarde
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde recently reflected on his emotional return to his former club, RC Lens, during a pre-season match. Despite Wolves’ defeat, Bellegarde cherished the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and reminisce about his time at Lens. As Wolves gear up for the 2025/26 Premier League season, Bellegarde emphasized the importance of team cohesion and readiness.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde said: “It was really good for me. I remember when I played there and I felt good, so I was very happy to see the gaffer and the players. For eight years I was playing in Lens and I have so many memories from my time there and it was a very good time for me. I remember a lot of moments from this club, so it was nice to speak again with the gaffer and the players, but now I’m too happy to be here.”
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde continued: “The players were saying to me ‘Now you’re strong because you play in the Premier League, you’re much stronger and you played well’. We didn’t win but we need to win the next game and score more goals to increase the confidence. Although we didn’t win, I feel the players have more power in their legs and are more physical. We need to keep going and keep pushing to be ready for the start of the first game of the season against Man City.”
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde added: “My team-mates here are really good, but we need more time and enjoy being together when you have time out of the pitch. If you enjoy being together as a team you can play better on the pitch and have more connection. I remember last year was a very difficult start to the season, so now we need give our best if we want to start well.”
Bellegarde’s reflections highlight the significance of his past experiences at Lens, which have shaped his current journey in the Premier League. The midfielder’s comments also underscore the importance of building team chemistry and physical readiness as Wolves prepare to face Manchester City in their season opener. With memories of a challenging start in the previous season, Bellegarde and his teammates are determined to commence the new campaign on a positive note.
As the countdown to the 2025/26 Premier League season continues, Wolves fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming challenges and opportunities. The team aims to harness the lessons learned from past experiences and forge stronger connections both on and off the pitch. With a focus on improving their physicality and teamwork, Wolves are poised to tackle the rigors of the Premier League with renewed vigor.
