David Moller Wolfe
Wolverhampton Wanderers have bolstered their defensive lineup with the acquisition of David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar. The 23-year-old Norwegian defender, who has already made 190 senior appearances and is a regular for his national team, has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club. The transfer fee, while undisclosed, is reported to be around £12 million.
David Moller Wolfe said: “It feels amazing. I’m so, so happy and so proud to be a part of Wolves, so I’m over the moon right now. I felt incredibly wanted from the second I talked to (Wolves’ director of professional football) Domenico (Teti) and the second I talked to the coach (Vitor Pereira). The Premier League is a big, big league, especially also in Norway. It’s the biggest league that people watch, so when a Premier League club came in, and Wolverhampton came in for me, I was extremely keen on joining. I’m really looking forward to playing for Wolverhampton in front of the fans and I can’t wait to see them.”
Wolfe, who boasts a reputation as an attacking full-back, contributed eight assists last season, including a notable performance against Roma in the Europa League. He also found the net against Galatasaray, PEC Zwolle, and Almere City in his final match for AZ Alkmaar before his move to Molineux.
David Moller Wolfe said: “I think it’s pretty cool to have that surname and then to play for Wolverhampton. Me and my brothers joked a little bit about it a couple of years ago, and now it is turning into a reality. I give a lot of energy to the team, and I always do my best to help the team. I’m very confident. I think I have the qualities to play in the Premier League and to deliver and to perform. Also here, I will play as a wing-back, so that means I can have even more freedom to go on offensive runs.”
Wolfe’s international experience includes a debut against the Faroe Islands two years ago, where he played alongside new clubmate Jorgen Strand Larsen. Wolfe has earned 12 caps for Norway and has been a key player in their World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring against Israel.
David Moller Wolfe said: “We spoke for the first time about it a couple of weeks ago. He only has positive things to say about the club, about the people in the club, about the fans and about the city. So I can’t wait to see his face and train with him again.”
Wolfe’s arrival at Wolverhampton Wanderers is expected to bring additional dynamism to the team’s defense, with his attacking capabilities and international experience providing a significant boost. As the Premier League season unfolds, fans eagerly anticipate seeing Wolfe in action at Molineux.
