Dale Taylor
Blackpool appears to have emerged victorious in the race to sign Nottingham Forest striker Dale Taylor. According to transfer expert Alan Nixon, the Tangerines are in the lead to secure the services of the promising forward, who is expected to command a seven-figure transfer fee. Despite interest from Plymouth, Taylor has reportedly chosen Blackpool following meetings with Argyle manager Tom Cleverley and Pool boss Steve Bruce. Both clubs are in dire need of attacking reinforcements after suffering defeats in their opening League One matches, with Blackpool losing to Stevenage and Plymouth falling to Barnsley.
Ryan Lowe said: “He’s had a great season. I’ve said to him, he’s the kind of striker you want to work with, because he listens, and he learns. I’ve been on his case quite a bit, and he probably thinks I don’t like him! But I love him to pieces, he’s a great kid, and he’s a goalscorer. Whatever he does and wherever he goes for the rest of his career, I’d like him to be a 20-goal striker rather than 10 or 11. He can maybe be a bit more selfish in certain areas, getting across the front of defenders. Eleven goals, eight assists, a couple of player of the year awards… he deserves all he gets. Unfortunately, I think he’ll be too expensive for what we’d be looking at, to be honest with you. I’m 100 per cent sure Nottingham Forest would demand a huge fee if they are looking to sell him – and they probably still have hopes of him maybe playing at a higher level. I do know Dale has enjoyed his time here, we’ve helped each other along the way, he’s scored goals, the fans love him. But I can’t really say much more than that, because he’s not our player. If he was available to sign, or re-sign, I’m sure we wouldn’t be saying ‘oh no’, because of how well he’s done here. We’ll have a look at it, see what it looks like, and if there’s any opportunity, we’ll see what we can do.”
Taylor, who joined Nottingham Forest in 2022, has made only one appearance for the club in a League Cup match against Grimsby, which the Reds won 3-0. Last season, he was loaned to Wigan Athletic, where he made a significant impact by scoring 11 goals in League One. Wigan manager Ryan Lowe expressed his admiration for Taylor’s potential and lamented the financial constraints that prevent the club from retaining him.
The move to Blackpool could provide Taylor with the platform to further develop his skills and showcase his goal-scoring prowess. With Blackpool’s current need for attacking options, Taylor’s arrival is likely to bolster their offensive lineup significantly. As the transfer window progresses, Blackpool fans will be eager to see if Taylor can replicate his impressive form from last season and become a key player for the Tangerines in their League One campaign.
