Dan Ndoye
Nottingham Forest has made headlines with their record-breaking acquisition of Swiss international Dan Ndoye from Bologna. The 24-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with the club, marking a significant investment as Forest seeks to bolster their squad following the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United. The transfer fee, which includes add-ons, makes Ndoye the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
Dan Ndoye said: “I am really happy to have signed for the club. It is a really exciting time at Forest, and I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of the project. It’s a really ambitious team with a fantastic history and I can’t wait to get started.”
Ndoye’s arrival at the City Ground comes as a strategic move to fill the void left by Elanga, who was sold for £52 million. Forest has invested £35 million for Ndoye, with additional add-ons pushing the total cost beyond the previous club record. This move is seen as a statement of intent from Nottingham Forest, who are eager to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League.
Ndoye’s journey to Nottingham has been marked by a steady rise through European football. Born in Nyon, Switzerland, he developed his skills at FC Lausanne Sport before moving to OGC Nice. His career took a significant turn at FC Basel, where he made 97 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists. His performances in Switzerland earned him a move to Bologna in 2023, where he initially struggled but eventually found his form, scoring 12 goals in his second season.
Stefano Buonfino said: “Ndoye had a solid first season, although he struggled when it came to pure numbers. Ndoye was brought in to replace Elanga, who became so successful for his quick feet and being able to seamlessly take it around opponents. Luckily for Forest fans, those spectacles should be able to carry on. Ndoye is very fast, quick, hard to catch, and explosive in one-on-one situations. When he finds space, he’s lethal.”
As Nottingham Forest prepares for the upcoming season, Ndoye’s signing is expected to bring a new dynamic to the team. His versatility and speed make him a valuable asset, capable of playing on both wings. Forest fans will be eager to see how Ndoye adapts to the Premier League and contributes to the team’s ambitions.
The 2025/26 season promises to be an exciting chapter for Nottingham Forest, with Ndoye’s arrival symbolizing the club’s commitment to success. As they gear up for their opening match against Brentford on August 17, all eyes will be on Ndoye to see if he can replicate his impressive form from Italy and Switzerland on the English stage.
