Goncalo Guedes
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forgotten star is keen to make a significant impact this season following a challenging period marred by knee surgeries. Unlike the previous term at Molineux, he has been actively involved in pre-season preparations from the start, boosting his confidence and optimism for the upcoming campaign.
Goncalo Guedes said: “After two difficult years, because I had two surgeries to my knee, and now, after the last season, I think I feel very well, very confident. I think this season will be a good season for me. All the time I feel very good in the group. I think I do very well with my team-mates, with the coach, with the staff. All the people are very nice and this is the most important. Last season, I came after ten days or 15 days, but now I’ve done everything, all the pre-season, and I think it’s very important for me. The most important is the team starts with a good level and wins the most possible points in the first games.”
Guedes emphasized the significance of being part of the pre-season from the beginning, which he believes is crucial for his performance and integration with the team. He expressed satisfaction with the camaraderie and support he receives from his teammates and the coaching staff, which he considers vital for his confidence and well-being.
Goncalo Guedes said: “Pre-season in my country, with this sun, I think it is very good, it’s my home, it’s my country, I am all the time happy in Portugal. The training is hard but the intensity is good. It’s very important for this part of the season. I think it’s a good idea when you change to another country for training. The training is hard because pre-season is hard. It’s important to be in one place, all the team together, I think it’s good for the team, because all the team sleeps in the hotel all the time, joking at the table, I think it’s very important for the team. The team spirit is unbelievable. The team is young. We all joke, but when we do the work, all the time we’re focused, and this is the most important. All the players need to show to the coach their best level.”
The player also highlighted the benefits of conducting pre-season training in Portugal, his home country, where the climate and environment contribute positively to his morale. He noted the rigorous yet beneficial nature of the training sessions, which foster team unity and spirit. The collective experience of staying together in a hotel has strengthened the bond among players, enhancing their focus and determination to perform at their best.
As Wolves gear up for the new season, Guedes’ return to full fitness and his positive outlook could play a pivotal role in the team’s quest for success. His journey of recovery and readiness to contribute underscores the resilience and determination that could inspire both his teammates and the club’s supporters.
