Brighton & Hove Albion are bracing for a busy transfer period as the club looks to manage its large squad. With Joao Pedro already sold to Chelsea, attention now turns to other potential moves involving players like Evan Ferguson and Pervis Estupinan. Club chairman Tony Bloom and other key figures recently met with the squad to discuss the upcoming transfer strategies.
Paul Barber said: “We have got a big squad and we have got a lot of players who will not get as much game time as they would ideally like. I think it is inevitable there will be one or two more at least going out over the next few weeks. There are a number of players in the squad whose game time is going to be important to them for different reasons.”
Barber added: “Another young player whose loan to West Ham did not go quite according to plan. He didn’t get as much time on the pitch as he would have liked, we would have liked. From that point of view we will be looking at a number of options over the summer.”
Speaking in general terms, Barber continued: “There has been interest (in players). The market has been not as busy as maybe some previous summers. It is a long window. Some clubs like to get in and do their business early. Other clubs are slower to react because they want to get their players back, see what shape they are in, see what the coach needs at that time. Somewhere in between is where a lot of clubs are.”
Brighton has reportedly received inquiries from Manchester United and AC Milan for left-back Pervis Estupinan. While a move seems likely, it is not yet confirmed. Estupinan remains committed to the team and is currently training with the squad as they prepare to face Las Palmas on Monday.
The transfer window presents both challenges and opportunities for Brighton as they aim to balance their squad. With several players seeking more game time and interest from other clubs, the coming weeks are expected to be crucial in shaping the team’s future. Brighton’s management will need to navigate these dynamics carefully to ensure both player satisfaction and team performance.
