Norwich City forward Josh Sargent is drawing significant attention from top European clubs following an impressive season in the Championship. The 25-year-old American international scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 32 appearances, contributing to Norwich’s 13th-place finish. Sargent, who has also earned 28 caps for the United States, scoring five times, is reportedly on the radar of several clubs in the big five European leagues.
Knapper told BBC Radio Norfolk: “We don’t know at this point, there’s big interest in the player. As of now, no, is the answer, but of course there is big interest in the player, I think that is well known. As always with these things it has to work for everyone. There are big clubs in the big five leagues who are expressing a lot of interest in him and he is also ambitious. It has to work for us. At the minute nothing has, he’s a Norwich player and I’ll just turn my phone off for the next few weeks and [hope] that will remain so.”
Sargent’s future at Norwich remains uncertain as interest from major clubs continues to grow. Despite the attention, no concrete offers have been made, and the club is keen to ensure any potential move benefits all parties involved. Norwich is currently focused on strengthening their squad, having already made several signings, including Kyle Walker, Quilindschy Hartman, Loum Tchaouna, Axel Tuanzebe, and Max Weiß. The club also re-signed Jacob Bruun Larsen last week as part of their strategy to bolster their attacking options.
Knapper added: “There’s definitely going to be more activity in the front line even if Josh doesn’t go. So we’re not done in terms of our transfer activity, there’s still things that we’re working on. There’s still going to be movement on the way in, even if there are no other outs because we still feel like we want to add at least another option or two in wide areas to give us flexibility in terms of how we attack. But, of course, if we were to lose another offensive player then we would add again.”
Norwich City’s proactive approach in the transfer market highlights their ambition to compete at a higher level and secure a strong squad for the upcoming season. While Sargent’s future remains a topic of speculation, the club is determined to maintain its competitive edge by continuing to explore options to enhance their attacking flexibility and depth.
