James McAtee
James McAtee, the promising Manchester City academy graduate, is poised for a significant move this summer, with Everton among the Premier League clubs keen on securing his services. The 22-year-old midfielder, who played a pivotal role in England Under-21s’ European Championship triumph, is contemplating his next career step amidst interest from both domestic and international clubs.
Keith Wyness said: “I had a very good source of mine tell me that James McAtee was seen at a hotel in Liverpool recently. It’s one of those classic stories that you read about all the time, was last seen in a baker’s shop near the stadium.”
Pep Guardiola said: “For the age, I’d like him to stay. But I understand the players want more minutes. I would like him to stay, he’s a player for the academy, he knows the patterns. He’s a lovely person and trained really good. He can play different positions but I don’t know how the squad will be and we will see.”
McAtee’s potential departure comes after a season where he struggled for game time at Manchester City, prompting speculation about his future. Despite Pep Guardiola’s expressed desire to retain the Salford-born talent, McAtee is seeking more regular first-team opportunities. His versatility and skill set have made him an attractive prospect for clubs across Europe, with the Bundesliga and Serie A also showing interest.
The transfer window is heating up, and McAtee’s decision could be influenced by various factors, including the promise of playing time and the club’s vision for his development. As the summer progresses, Everton and Nottingham Forest will be closely monitoring the situation, hoping to add the young midfielder to their ranks.
