Bolton Wanderers
Charlie Warren, a 21-year-old forward, has made a significant leap in his football career by joining Bolton Wanderers. Warren, who previously played for the eighth-tier Isthmian League North Division side, Felixstowe & Walton, scored an impressive 34 goals last season. His contributions helped the team secure a second-place finish and clinch the Suffolk Premier Cup.
Charlie Warren said: “I didn’t let leaving Ipswich at that age affect me. I just kept trying to push and I knew that there’d be a way from non-league. I just needed the right opportunities and scoring most weeks also helped put my name out there. I did feel like last season I was progressing the most and I did feel like this could be the one where I get that pro contract. It’s a big achievement for me and I’m proud of it. Bolton is a massive club and it’s a massive step up for me but I feel like I’m ready for the challenge and I’m just excited to go and start.”
Steven Schumacher said: “He made a great impression on us all when he trialled earlier in the year and we’ve kept a keen eye on his progress, working to get this sorted once his season concluded. He’s a young player with clear potential and a good goalscoring instinct. This is an excellent opportunity for him to step up and continue his football education within our environment, and we’re looking forward to working with him and helping him develop.”
Warren’s journey from non-league football to a professional contract with Bolton Wanderers is a testament to his determination and skill. After leaving Ipswich, he focused on making a name for himself, which he achieved through consistent performances and a keen eye for goal. His move to Bolton represents a significant step up, offering him the chance to further hone his skills in a more competitive environment.
Steven Schumacher, who took over as Bolton Wanderers manager in January, recognized Warren’s potential during a trial earlier this year. Schumacher’s positive impression of Warren and the club’s keen interest in his development highlight the forward’s promising future. As Warren embarks on this new chapter, both he and the club are optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead.
