Les Ferdinand scored an own goal to gift Wimbledon a point at Selhurst Park. The goal meant the Dons climbed from seventh to fourth in the table but they failed to secure the win needed to claim Aston Villa’s third spot.
Ferdinand’s goal cancelled out Alan Mcdonald’s opener for QPR which was the first goal conceded by Wimbledon since August 28 when they drew 1-1 at Old Trafford. After QPR’s opener, Wimbledon had more hopes of a penalty when Vinny Jones slammed the ball upfield and Clarke was sandwiched between Stejskal and a defender but nothing was given.
The frantic pace eased slightly in the second half but the south London side had an intense spell of pressure late without finding a winner.
