Graeme Souness was left seething after watching his expensive Liverpool side meekly surrender to arch-rivals Everton at Goodison Park and he promised a major midweek shakeup. Goals from Mark Ward and Tony Cottee condemned his multi-million-pound squad to its fourth defeat in five games.
Graeme Souness said “We never started nor played any football. We played second fiddle and that was the most worrying thing of all. Everton really wanted to win and they were first to everything. I am desperately unhappy. We must sort it out make sure it doesn’t happen again because Everton was better and deserved it. There will be changes at Fulham on Wednesday.”
On the other hand, Everton manager Howard Kendall was beaming with happiness after the derby win.
Howard Kendall said, “You couldn’t fault one individual on our side because everyone was committed and working for each other.”
